FAMILY!!!

Welcome back, guys! I am Christopher Phillips, and this is my blog where I talk about mundane day-to-day activities. Today, I want to talk about Family, and I am looking forward to your participation. To me, Family is an essential element of a human’s life. If we combine all the necessities of our life into a building, Family will make the foundation. It is the most reliable support system one can have in life.

My time with Family:

I spent my early life in Atlanta, and I have four brothers and two sisters. I have a lot of memories of them. My most profound memories are from the time I spent with my father. He taught me a lot about sports and life. Apart from sports, he taught me a great many things, such as how to live life in general or how to excel at it without relying on anyone. I’m not living like a king here in Sharjah, but am I by no means poor either. I am doing great also because my father’s lessons have helped me a lot during rough times, and also my girlfriend who is a BIG help.

My Family in UAE:

My family members are my girlfriend(not saying her name yet), her daughter(she is so my daughter now…evil grin), and two pets: husky and chocolate Labrador. I met my GF in late 2019, and we have been together ever since. My GF and her daughter are superb. I will talk about them at a later date. Bruno, I got him from the pound sometime after I met my GF(she actually help me choose him). He was in and out of the shelter for two years. People wanted him but didn’t want to work with him. We love him to death. Then there is Flynn, a young, excited husky. Flynn is the problem child or dog, should I say. He escapes the kennel when we leave the house, he

gets into the food if you leave it unattended, and he also poops and pees if you aren’t exact to his schedule. So, when I migrated here, I was alone at the start, and it was quite a tough time, but now I have a family, and I feel great now.

Although I am away from my immediate family, my GF, daughter, and pets have helped fill the void. I have built up a circle of friends, and they have turned out to be an equally outstanding support system too. So, my military career has taught me that although nothing is stronger and more supportive than an immediate family, one can make several new families as he goes about his life. And these new families are equally important and supportive.

This is how I coped with the lack of a family support system in the initial months of immigration.

Do let me know in the comments what do you think about this? And what are your opinions about a family? Is Family a necessity, or can one do fine without them?

I am looking forward to your responses.

Thank you for reading!
